Every few years my wife and I have traveled to different states to visit the graves of family and friends.
I was astonished at how the condition of some of the graves and markers were.
Faded, black and weathered. Weeds had overtaken some of them to the point of not being able to read them. Twigs and branches everywhere. A few of the markers were only 2 to 3 years old. I was saddened by this and began to research ways to clean and restore the markers.
I was able to return and clean and care for my family’s graves and it was a wonderful feeling to step back and see the difference. Not to mention the good feeling I had knowing that my loved ones graves no longer looked unkempt and disheveled and the headstone/marker could be read again.
While walking through these cemeteries, I couldn’t help noticing that many of the other gravesites were also in poor condition. I began to think of the reasons why this was. Was the family all gone? Was there no one around to visit and maintain them? Or their family might not know how to care for grave headstones and markers?
I found out by doing some research that while most cemeteries offer perpetual care for the plot, that perpetual care does not include cleaning and care of the headstone or marker or the area around the headstone/marker.
I then resigned myself to make it my mission to help others honor their departed loved ones by offering affordable headstone/marker cleaning and gravesite care.
